"Parallel" by K. Michael Fox

Parallel is a music installation which represents the synthesis of MFA thesis work for artist K. Michael Fox surrounding computer music, granular synthesis, and real-time generative music systems. The installation is manifest as a mobile device app, which calls upon its user to collaborate in the create of musical material. When present in the installation setting, the devices may also be networked to communicate information with each other. This positions the audience simultaneously as audience and performer, or listener and speaker, or emitter and receiver, or creator and consumer. The app’s interface is presented to the user as a biologically inspired digital creature that is manipulable by the user, which subtly impacts the qualities of the sound produced on each device. Fox collaborated with artist Raven Kwok, who designed the visual components of both the mobile app and the installation.

"α (alpha) pulse" by Carsten Nicolai

α (alpha) pulse’s generated light patterns pulsated in a synchronized frequency across the entire façade of Hong Kong’s iconic 490 meter high International Commerce Centre on the Kowloon harbor front. Like a lighthouse, the tower was sending its pulses into the city, reaching out to Hong Kong residents and visitors.

Thicket is an audiovisual playground for iPad that allows anyone to create beautiful sounds and pictures from simple finger touches. For users of all ages, this generative art and sound app immerses you in song-like audiovisual pieces called modes. When "playing" a mode, you both react to and create the music and graphics that you experience. Each mode is its own art generator, interactive toy, instrument, even performance tool depending on how you use it. And with new modes to be developed and released every few months, Thicket functions an expandable platform in the exciting new genre of handheld interactive art.

Konstruct app

Konstruct is an investigation into Generative Art in an Augmented Reality environment. It is a sound reactive AR experience for the iPhone that allows the user to create a virtual sculpture by speaking, whistling or blowing into the device's microphone. A variety of 3D shapes, colour palettes and settings can be combined to build an endless collection of structures.
